A new arrival took staff at Lotherton Wildlife World by surprise by becoming an unexpected addition to their family of cuddly Capybara. The baby cappy is the first to ever be born at Wildlife World. |

2024-04-13 Aberford?s Leeds Festival Tickets |
Applications for Aberford resident tickets to Leeds Festival 2024 must be submitted by 30th April. An application form can be downloaded from the Aberford Parish Council website. There are 130 tickets available, each valid for 3 days of the festival including camping. The ticket price is ?65 with two tickets allocated to each successful household. |

2024-03-17 Battle of Towton Commemoration |
On Palm Sunday 24th March from 10am to 4pm the Frei Compagnie will be assisting the guided battlefield walks by the Towton Battlefield Society at Towton. See knights in armour, skilled demonstrations of weaving, woodwork and other medieval crafts. |

2024-01-04 Dogs at Lotherton |
You?re welcome to take your dog anywhere outdoors at Lotherton except Wildlife World and the playground. Well behaved dogs are allowed off lead in the open parkland areas, boundary trail and woodland but they ask you to keep them on a short lead in the courtyard, around the playgrounds and in the formal gardens. Dogs are permitted in the caf? during off peak periods. Assistance dogs are permitted into all areas of the estate. |

2023-12-30 Adopt a Penguin |
Lotherton Wildlife World is giving people the chance to adopt and support their colony of Humboldt penguins, helping the site to conserve the birds whilst also supporting international efforts to protect them in the wild. Adoption for 12 months is ?30 or ?25 for Lotherton members. Penguin adoption lasts for one year. For more information, please visit: Adopt a penguin at the Leeds Museums & Galleries website. |

2023-12-27 Owner Fined After Dog Attacks Woman |
A large German Shepherd was able to get free after the latch had not been put on the front gate to the property on Highfield Road in Aberford, attacking the woman who was walking by with her husband and their own pet dog. At Leeds Crown Court Judge Stubbs accepted it was an isolated incident after years of trouble-free dog keeping. He fined him ?100 and told him to pay the victim ?1,500 compensation. He made the dog subject to a contingent destruction order. |
